Established in 1989, the Grass Roots Organization for the Well-being of Seniors (GROWS) provides a platform for networking, education, and advocacy for senior service professionals. GROWS is the leading organization dedicated to the well-being of seniors in Montgomery County.

With a volunteer board of directors, various committees plan educational and networking opportunities, monitor legislation and impacting initiatives, and develop membership. GROWS promotes awareness and provides education regarding the unique needs of seniors, their families, and caregivers while at the same time providing the needed resources and support.

Our initiatives keep our members aware of trends, hot topics, and the latest data to improve the care and quality of the lives of seniors so that we may provide a higher level of service.

But most importantly GROWS is people. People like you--people who realize that through GROWS, we can accomplish collectively what no one individual can do alone. The strength of GROWS lies in its' members, who create a pool of resources from which to draw ideas, collaboration and energy.

GROWS is committed to providing useful and reliable resources and support to better serve our senior community. Whether you a provider, family member or a senior, we have the tools you need or a means to find them.  We want to help you make informed decisions on senior living and care.

What is Age-Friendly Montgomery County? To see a video explaining exactly what Age Friendly is, go HERE.

Age-Friendly Montgomery County is an initiative to enhance the County as a wonderfully diverse Community for a Lifetime--a place where all residents can age, thrive to their full potential, and contribute as a powerful resource in making our County a better, stronger, more inclusive community for everyone.

Montgomery County has a demonstrated record of commitment to meeting the needs of its active, vital senior residents as well as those who are more vulnerable. Building on that record, in December 2015, the County enrolled in the World Health Organization/AARP Network of Age-Friendly Communities. The County joins more than 140 Age-Friendly communities across the country, as well as those in more than 20 nations around the world. These localities are committed to ensuring that they are well designed, livable communities that meet the needs of residents of all ages.

Montgomery County also has enrolled in the Dementia Friendly America initiative to address the needs of persons with cognitive impairments and their caregivers. These two programs complement, strengthen, and enhance one another and together will benefit the entire community.   To learn more visit HERE.
